A Homegrown Islander: Mike Biestek’s roots run deep in the picturesque landscapes of Aquidneck Island. Born and raised in this charming coastal community, he possesses an innate understanding of the island’s unique character and the dreams of its residents.
A Patriotic Paratrooper: Mike’s devotion to service led him to the Rhode Island National Guard, where he embarked on a remarkable journey as a paratrooper. In 2010, he was deployed to Afghanistan, demonstrating immense bravery and valor during his tour. His service was recognized with accolades, including the prestigious Army Commendation Medal with Valor.
Champion Spirit: Mike’s determination and leadership qualities extended to the wrestling mat during his high school years. Not only did he claim the title of a two-time state champion, but he also accomplished the impressive feat of becoming a 4-time division champion. His contributions to the sport were further recognized as he earned the title of “Wrestler of the Year” in 2004.
